ALL STEPS LISTED ARE INCLUDED IN OUR CONTRACT.
1. CURRENT ELECTRIC USAGE INFORMATION
To get started, SolarEarth needs your current electric usage information. You can supply us with this information through several options:
A. By visiting our website at www.solarearthusa.com and clicking on “Get a Quote” from our main page; or
B. Via conference call with a SolarEarth Agent and your utility company; or
C. Emailing or faxing one month’s utility bill to: Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or Fax: (650)240-1332
2. APPROVING YOUR SOLAR EARTH PROPOSAL
With this information, SolarEarth will provide you with a formal proposal detailing your immediate and long-term savings when switching to solar. Upon approval of this proposal, you and your SolarEarth Agent will be able to discuss payment options.
3. APPLYING FOR FINANCING (IF APPLICABLE)
Your SolarEarth Agent can guide you through the online or phone application process with one of our preferred lenders. Once you are approved for financing, you will be informed via email directly by the financing company and SolarEarth.
4. INITIAL ROOF INSPECTION AND PLANNING
A SolarEarth field technician will call you directly to arrange a visit to your property. They will conduct an initial examination of the roof’s condition, determine if an electric panel upgrade is necessary, and plan the best solar panel payout. If there are major roof issues, we will discuss your options in detail. SolarEarth can also provide a complete roof replacement under financing, if needed. Time Frame: 2 to 4 days from contract approval.
5. PANEL LAYOUT DESIGN & PERMIT FILING
Once the roof inspection is completed, SolarEarth will create a panel layout design which will be emailed to you for approval. SolarEarth may also file all necessary permits with your respective city. In most cities, the approval process typically takes a few days; however, additional inspections and/or requests may be required. In such a case, SolarEarth will contact you to discuss the additional requests/ifnormation. For example, the city may request additional photos of the roof supports’ interior condition, requiring an additional but quick visit by our field technician to your property. Time Frame: 1 to 2 weeks, permit approval time varies from city to city.
6. INSTALLATION OF PANELS
When SolarEarth receives the approval from the city to proceed, we will contact you to schedule the installation. Our installers arrive in the morning on the day of installation and may need to work for up to two days or more, depending on the scale of the job. Commercial projects can go from days to months depending on scale. Time Frame: 1 to 2 days for most residential installations.
7. FINAL INSPECTIONS
City inspector will check for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors during final inspection. Some cities provide forms for self certification stating that homeowners comply with the specific requirements. If self certification is available, it is not necessary for the inspector to enter the home. After installation, a SolarEarth technician meets separately with you, the city inspector, and the utilities inspector to get final approval for the newly-installed system. Once approved, the system is ready to be activated. If your contract was financed, an email notice will be sent to you via Docusign for your final signature to confirm that the work was completed. Time frame: 3 to 5 days from installation of panels.
8. NET ENERGY METERING
SolarEarth will now file the appropriate form(s) directly with your utility company for your NEM (Net Energy Metering). This allows you to start benefiting from any excess electricity that your new solar panels produce to resell back to the electric company. Time Frame- 2 to 4 weeks, depending on each utility company’s turnaround time for NEM.
